SPORT DESCRIPTION: This is a team event consisting of up to three persons. The chili will be prepared “live” at the competition site. Individuals will prepare a pot of chili to serve 20 people. No ingredients may be pre-cooked prior to the commencement of the cook-off. The only exceptions are canned or bottled tomatoes, tomato sauce, peppers, pepper sauce, beverages, broth and grinding and/or mixing of spices. Meat may be treated, pre-cut or ground, but NOT pre-cooked. All other ingredients must be chopped or prepared during the preparation period. Cooking time will be minimum of 3 hours and maximum of 4 hours. Cooking facilities will be provided at or near the judging site. Presentation does come into play in determining winners. Teams will supply their own ingredients. Chili not used for judging purposes will be donated to local community partners.
